On the anniversary of our 7th year,Robin is dedicated to encouraging diversity in Chess tournaments especially as it relates to gender and economic factors. It is her priority to expose students, especially economically challenged students to competition at the Local, National and International levels.
A National Master, he is altruistic, dedicated to social justice and Chess for all. He has dedicated his time and talent to provide lectures and instruction on Saturdays for over 3 years.
Serves on our advisory board to provide training in our classrooms, especially in south east Washington, DC. He has a passion for bringing youth together internationally.
We are so grateful for the time, talent and service Akshita has extended to Chess Girls DC. She provides extensive game analysis during tournaments and individual tutoring for our girls who are preparing for tournaments. She is a trusted advisor and volunteer.
Fiona serves as a creative podcast advisor. She is a former competitive chess player (two-time National Girls 16 & Under Champion and a five-time Maryland Girls Champion). She enjoys organizing activities to encourage girls to play chess and build skills along the way that are useful in academic and professional endeavors.
David Bennett is an actively competing National Master & International (FIDE) titled Candidate Master, currently ranked #3 in Washington, D.C. and top 1% in nation ,USCF rating 2246 as of October 2017.
A Los Angeles, California native, David has played chess competitively for over 15 years. He studied History and Political Science at the University of Michigan and completed a dual master's degree in Public Administration and Urban Planning at the University of Southern California. He is a VIRTUS certified instructor.
David takes a holistic approach focused on the importance of deep strategic/positional understanding, and patience. Using a flexible, dynamic playing approach combined with a powerful thinking technique he instructs the student to effectively dissect and understand any position in order to consistently play strong moves. He is fluent in Spanish. David tailors his approach based on the student’s goals.
