There is one section for DC residents, K-12 who want to be considered as a nominee to participate in the Haring Tournament of Champions. DC residents will automatically be enrolled to the State Affiliate
butTrophies will be awarded to other categories of K-3, Grade 4-6, Grade 7-12 to Non DC residents. Trophies awarded 1st to 5th place. Medals 6th place to 10th place in each section. Gift bags for all players.
When you register, be sure to indicate a section Grade K - 3Grade 4 - 6,Grade 7 - 12, Also, Indicate if you are a DC resident. There is a special category for DC residents who want to be considered to represent DC in the Haring National Tournament of Champions.
Open tournament. You do not have to be a DC resident to participate

Trophies and Medals:

The registration is $20 dollars early registration. Until April 30, 2026. After April 30, 2026 registration is $25.00 until May 8, 2026. No registrations at door.
Cut off for registration is Friday May 8, 2026 at 3pm. No refunds 7 days before event.

By registering for the classes or tournament you agree and understand that you the parent or teacher are responsible for your students etiquette online or in person. All comments online should be directed to host.
Occasionally, we will be taking pictures of the children or recording event. As parents or guardians students participating in the class or tournament you waive and release U.S. Chess, Chess Girls DC, DC Chess Association and it’s officers, volunteers, agents and employees from any claim or liability relating to the use of your name or child’s image or name in photographic images ,video images, oral or recorded statements in social media, news releases and photography.
Supervision Agreement
By attending this event , You the parent/ teacher agree to provide sufficient supervision of your minors and agree that the tournament director and organizer, US Chess, DC Chess Association, Chess Girls DC Nonprofit organization it's officers, volunteers, vendors and staff have no responsibility or liability with respect to minors brought to the tournament because parents and teachers are required to supervise their students during the entirety of the events and classes under all circumstances.

Classes will be held in person.There are two large regional tournaments and several coed tournaments throughout the year. Students will recieve books and a chesskids.com account
Classroom fee is $75.00. Awards and incentives also to motivate students.

Chess Girls DC will establish a solid foundation using step by step instruction on chesskids.com platform. and Chess STEPS method. Students will transition to National Master David Bennett class after completing the Queen level chesskids.com. Beginner classes will be guided by chesskids.com and teacher. Beginners must have a strong understanding of alphabet and counting to 10.
Intermediate players will receive group instruction and analysis of games with Coach and National Master David Bennett. Students will engage in tournament activity during the week using chesskids.com. chess.com and Li Chess. Students will be taught to notate and work with Chess engines.
Students will receive a gold membership to study independently on Chesskids.com. Awards and certificates will be given to students upon completing the Queen level of Chesskids.com. Students will participate in All girls tournaments, coed tournaments and more. Students will work towards skills to participate in Chess tournaments. Chess Girls DC is the host of many citywide and regional tournaments. Chess Girls DC uses strong written and online curriculum. Classes are every Saturday unless where noted on calendar for holidays and tournaments.
There is a Friday 7pm online component to class.
